With the decline in the authority of mughal emperors , large governers and the great zamindars consolidated their positions in the subcontinent ( india ) and through the 18th century the mughal empire began to fragment into small regional states and these states can be devided into three overlapping regional states 1 states that were old mughal provinces like Hyderabad,bengal and awadh extremely powerful and quite independent the rulers of these states did not breaktheir ties with the mughal emperors 2 states that had enjoyed the absolute independent from the mughal emperors amongst these were Rajput principalities 3 states that included under these , Marathas ,sikhs and others like jats they gained their independence after a long drawn armed struggle .........
